1963  The State initiates a coastal development plan known as the "Racine" mission.

The Chamber of Commerce, under the presidency of Pierre Gamel, takes up the challenge. Jean Balladur, architect and urban planner heads the coordination of the work.

1967  Mosquito control for the zone which is made up of dunes and marsh land.

1968  A breakwater is built to the east of the bay to halt sand and silt build up from the Rhone estuary.

1969  Start of marina construction. The port basins are dug out, the quaysides and jetties built.

1974  Construction of the Harbour Master's office.

1980  End of construction of the second phase of the marina.

1985  Completion of construction at Port Camargue.



2001 
The Commune of Grau-du-Roi terminates the concession agreement and becomes the direct manager of the port. To this end it creates an Independent Committee to manage Port Camargue marina.



2002 – 2004 
The new structure takes over, the first initiatives are:

 

establishing an administrative, financial and regulatory framework,

 

organisation of the human and technical resources within the Committee,

 establishing a development strategy for Port Camargue.
